Abstract

THEtreatment ofchemical burnsoftheconjunctiva withamniotic membraneisnowwidelyused.A simple andquickmethodof insertion savesapatient withanalready acutely tender eyemuch discomfort. An amniotic membranegraft isrequired toseparate tworaw surfaces ofconjunctiva andpreventtheformation ofsymblepharon. A methodis,therefore, needed toholdthegraft well into theaffected fornix. WiththisinviewMr.A.J.Cameron suggested inserting agraft intotheinferior fornix bymeansof onedouble-armed suture, passedthrough theedgeofthegraft intotheextreme limit oftheinferior fornix andoutthrough the skinofthecheek.Fromthissuggestion hasbeenevolved the following technique, whichhasbeenfoundsatisfactory inover thirty cases.
