Neutron stars and black holes have the strongest gravity, and hence--according to Einstein9s general theory of relativity--curve space-time the tightest, of all known objects in the universe. Observations by NASA9s Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) are now providing the first direct measurements of the orbital motion of matter in these strongly curved space-times. These observations provide insights into the fundamental properties not only of space-time but also of matter itself.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 1 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
