Globular clusters--compact assemblies of stars that typically contain ~100,000 to ~1,000,000 stars--are relics from the time when galaxies first formed. In her Perspective, [Johnson][1] reviews recent observations of very young clusters in starburst galaxies. The results suggest that we may be observing the birth of globular clusters for the first time. [1]: http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/297/5582/776
