In this paper we investigate the relationship between matrixing methods, the number of filters adopted and the size of the color gamut of a digital camera. The color gamut is estimated using a method based on the inversion of the processing pipeline of the imaging device. Different matrixing methods are considered, including an original method developed by the authors. For the selection of a hypothetical forth filter, three different quality measures have been implemented. Experimental results are reported and compared.
