Packaging in a Sustainable Way

Packaging in a Sustainable Way

Abstract

Any discussion on sustainable and responsible packaging requires clarification of what is meant by the term “packaging”. Many authors mention three levels of packaging: primary packaging, which corresponds to the packaging directly in contact with the product (e.g. a yoghurt), secondary packaging, which groups together several primary packages (e.g. a pack of yoghurts) and finally, tertiary packaging, which corresponds to the logistical unit. In principle, a distinction can also be made between packing and packaging of products.
