Head Circumferences of Jamaican Infants

Abstract

SUMMARYHead circumferences of 271 babies born at the University Hospital of the West Indies were measured at intervals during their first year of life. Growth was particularly good in the very early months and poor during the later months. Comparisons are made with other studies of negroes and whites, and the effects of malnutrition and unstimulating environments upon mental development are briefly discussed.RÉSUMÉTour de tete des enfants jamaicainsLe tour de tête de 271 nourrissons nés à l'hôpital universitaire des Indes Occidentales a été mesuré durant la première année de la vie.
