Myringoplasty is a deceptively difficult procedure in which surgical finesse and experience dictate success in terms of hearing improvement as well as closure rate. In essence, it is the complete removal of epidermal ingrowth followed by the placement of a non-epithelialized graft on the medial surface of the tympanic membrane which has withstood the test of time.
