The impact of the military coup detat that occurred in Fiji in May 1987 on emigration particularly of the population of Indian origin is examined. "The review commences with a brief statement about the magnitude of net migration losses of Fijis population since the early 1960s. This is followed by a closer examination of the age sex and occupational composition of flows of Fiji citizens to New Zealand with particular reference to the late 1980s." (EXCERPT)
