In this paper, we propose an efficient Ordered statistic decoding (OSD)-aided turbo decoding algorithm for LTE turbo codes to improve the error performance of conventional turbo decoding. More significant performance gain can be achieved for short codes and high-rate punctured codes. Considering the Log-likelihood ratio (LLR) oscillation, we introduce a more reliable method to reconstruct ordered information sequence in terms of the accumulated LLR of each bit in the codeword. Additionally, we present a simple encoding method based on bit flipping to decrease the computational complexity. The simulation results show that noticeable performance gains are achieved by the proposed OSD-aided schemes.
