Interpretive sketches and simplified drawings can show function or underlying principles of operation and can be used to impart human or animal characteristics to machinery. When-and-if (WHIF) charts can expand on a sequence of events or show cause-and-effect relationships. Each drawing must have a specific purpose to be effective.
