Composite dielectric waveguides, or a class of dielectric waveguides made of a few dielectric materials, are described. A composite circular dielectric waveguide (CCDW) is treated with the the point-matching method. Computed values of the propagation constant of the CCDW are compared with those of the homogeneous circular dielectric waveguides (HCDW). Microwave experiments carried out to comfirm the theory are discribed.
