
Analysis of the usual experimental method to quantify the giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect indicates that at high enough working frequencies the values of the impedance can be largely influenced by parasitic impedances of the circuit that affect significantly the analysis of the data. A discussion is introduced on the intrinsic impedance for a Co-based amorphous wire and the actual intrinsic value when parasitic impedances are cancelled.
