Various signal processing devices utilizing the propagation of magnetostatic waves in planar magnetic films between 0.5 GHz and 20 GHz have been investigated. Then this paper is focused on the useful properties of magnetostatic waves and their applications to the most promising devices as dispersive delay lines and tunable oscillators. The common device features are reviewed. Two approaches to obtain dispersive delay lines are described i.e. the utilization of a ground plane or reflective arrays. Characteristics of tunable resonators made of grooved reflective gratings are given. Results about delay line or resonator stabilized oscillators are reported.
