A 1.2V Wide-Band Active-RC Filter for Wireless Communication Receivers

Abstract

This paper presents the design of a 1.2 V wideband active-RC filter for wireless communication receivers. The topology of this filter is the 5 th-order Chebyshev-II lowpass filter type. The 3 dB bandwidth is 20 MHz while the stopband attenuation larger than 45 dB is obtained. For a single battery-powered system, the filter was designed to operate at 1.2 V power supply. To compensate RC variations by variation of fabrication process, operating temperature and supply voltage, the tuning circuit is included on same chip. The simulation result of 3rd-order input intercept point (IIP3) is about 31 dBm. The filter is fabricated in a 0.25-mum 1P5M standard CMOS technology and dissipates 55 mA for a supply voltage of 1.2 V
