The traffic calming measures are applied in many countries all over the world. They are well-systemized and having good effects. The domestic related research, however, is much less developed. Thus, this article introduced the measures of traffic calming volume control and speed control in overseas studies and illustrated them with figures and description. Then, the article gave a demonstration in the application of traffic calming measures. At last, it offered a suggestion to the study of traffic calming and traffic safety in China. The measures may be adopted in roads of areas, like domestic residential quarters, new investment and development zones and university towns. They are likely to help ensure road safety in China.
