
A panel discussion on the future of expert systems is presented. First, Inference Corporation's experiences in the areas of tools, methodologies and future research directions are described. Secondly, new areas and designs of applications beyond the first generation of expert systems are considered. A methodology combining traditional information systems technology and expert systems technology is then presented.
