Wide Image Geometric Mosaic and Measure Algorithm of Mobile Mapping System

Abstract

A wide image mosaic and measure algorithm ofmobile mapping system (MMS) has been proposed in this paper. Through constructing the cylinderical panorama projectionrelationship of triple original digital measurable images (DMIs), the wide image has been mosaiced directly. The correspondingrelationship between wide image and object space coordinate hasbeen constructed by utilizing back projection relationshipbetween wide image and original DMIs, and synchro or asynchrostereo DMI pair of the triple original DMIs. Then, the wideimage object measure algorithm has been realized. The wideimage experiment illustrates that, the method of utilizingcylinderical panorama projection to acquire wide image can beapplied in mosaic of sequential wide images in MMS. Whenoriginal DMI possesses synchro stereo DMI pair, the absoluteprecision of wide image measure result can be better than 1mand the relative precision of wide image measure result can bebetter than 0.2m. This accuracy contents with the precisionrequirement of real vision object measure in city environment.
