A mathematical method to estimate the basic parameters of induction machines, based on available performance characteristics, is described in this paper. The problems associated with the parameter estimation are analyzed through sensitivity functions. The main feature of the proposed procedure is the possibility to estimate the parameters without the measurement of the machine speed. The theoretical study is completed by experiments on a 3KW induction motor which confirm the theoretical results.
