The routing modulation and spectrum assignment (RMSA) constraints hinder the performance of elastic optical networks (EONs). To reduce this hindrance, various RMSA heuristics are proposed by utilizing spectrum conversion techniques in a novel way. The key to proposed conversion techniques lies in the selection of a conversion window (CW). To demonstrate the benefits achieved by the proposed heuristics, simulations are performed using scheduled traffic model (STM). To the best of our knowledge this is the first work concerning RMSA under STM using spectrum conversion in EONs. Although the partial spectrum conversion utilizes 17% more spectrum than full spectrum conversion, simulation results highlight the superiority of partial spectrum conversion in terms of the amount of bandwidth accepted and the number of demands accepted in the network.
