This article examines the potential role of wireless ad-hoc networks and the LORA-CBF routing algorithm for inter-vehicular communications in the context of optimizing traffic flow and increasing vehicular safety. The LORA-CBF algorithm is discussed in detail and preliminary test bed results are provided, followed by recommendations for future research. Finally, some reflections are offered on how to meet the challenges of implementing Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET) in real-world conditions.
