Translating Gaussian03 AST into DLTK AST

Abstract

Our project e-Science on Chemistry (eSOC) needs to build script editors for some chemistry script languages, such as Gaussian03, Mopac and Insight II. Dynamic Language ToolKit (DLTK) is an eclipse-based platform that can create editors for programming languages. The critical part of creating editor with DLTK is translating target programming language’s AST into DLTK AST. This AST translation contains two main processes. One process is storing target AST nodes into corresponding DLTK AST nodes and the other process is transforming target AST nodes’ communication into DLTK AST nodes’ communication. We use ANTLR to implement the AST translation. In this paper, we give an implementation of translating Gaussian03 AST into DLTK AST. This implementation is helpful for realizing the AST translation for other chemistry script languages. In addition, the validity of the AST translation for Gaussian03 is proved in GaussianScriptEditor.
