Geographical information systems (GIS) deal with large volume of datasets. Hence, one of the main concerns on Web GIS is related to performance issues, as these datasets need to migrate, as fast as possible, from server to client tiers. Therefore, in order to maximize performance on Web GIS it is necessary to apply optimization techniques. This paper discusses some of these optimization techniques and evaluates them in a Web GIS with a real application. The results obtained demonstrate how each of the optimization techniques used could help on improving the overall performance
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 2 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
