Through the Wall RADAR plays a crucial role in urban environment and military area. This kind of systems operate in ultra wideband (UWB) for penetration through obstacle materials such as drywall, brick wall, autoclaved aerated concrete wall and concrete wall. In this paper, a real time handheld UWB radar developed to detect and locate targets behind common building structures is described. Several field trials have been carried out for different types of wall to evaluate performance of the system and the results are presented.
