An Novel Effective Simulation Method of Star Atlas for Star Identification

Abstract

In order to further improve the attitude control accuracy of the spacecraft and analysis the star identification algorithm, an effective simulation method of star atlas is proposed. This approach utilizes the same field of view in different latitude to calculate the exact position of observed stars in the charge-coupled device (CCD) image plane. Based on the magnitude, right ascension and declination features, the catalog database of guide stars is established and works rapidly. The simulation results show that the proposed method could obtain a fast speed of selection guide stars and can implement conveniently when compared to current star atlas simulation method.
