A Note on the Impossible Differential Attacks on Block Cipher SM4

Abstract

This paper first proves and extends the 12-round impossible differentials of block cipher SM4 given by Lu. Then we point out a few flaws in the previous 14-round impossible differentials and 17-/18-round impossible differential attacks. Finally, we propose a manner to optimize the impossible differential attack on SM4 using the existing impossible differentials.
