Abstract

Vacuum interrupter is an important issue in the field of vacuum switch (VS) and one of the cores of VS. The history of vacuum interrupter and its present situation are described in this paper. At the same time an analysis on the four key elements, namely contact material, arc control systems, interrupter construction and interrupter manufacture, which are indispensable for vacuum interrupter is made. The development tendency of vacuum interrupter in the future is referred to also.
