Models of non-standard induction machines with number of phases higher than 3 are not commonly available and require special effort to implement. This paper presents a model of induction machine with arbitrary number of phases on the stator and rotor, which has been implemented in Matlab-Simulink. It is shown that machines with number of phases higher than 3 have less severe torque pulsation and the stator current increase following a loss of phase(s). The relative location of the faulted phases has an impact on redistribution of currents and resulting torque. The proposed model can be used to represent induction motors for transient studies involving multiple faults and system-level reconfiguration.
