The end ring leakage inductance of an induction machine is computed either by using an empirical formula or by using very complicated mathematical techniques. In this paper, an alternate method to compute this inductance using Winding Function Approach (WFA) and three dimensional Finite Element (3DFE) using Maxwell is described. The method is deemed to be computationally simpler, yet more accurate than the empirical one.
