A new approach to design user-driven security pricing model in cloud computing

Abstract

On one side, pricing of services in Cloud Computing plays a crucial role in generating revenues and large-scale adoption within the masses, whereas on the other hand, security is one of the main issues for Cloud Computing to assure people about its trustworthiness and reliability. That's why, the pricing of security services in Cloud Computing even becomes more significant area of research. Security pricing in Cloud Computing is fixed and Provider-driven pay-as-you-go, where the end-user has to pay fixedly for the amount of security capabilities and has no role in deciding the security capabilities actually required, based on the significance of his VM. This paper is focused on proposing a User-driven security pricing strategy, which incorporates user-oriented characters like utility, satisfaction and is economically a better pricing strategy from the perspective of the users.
