This paper describes the development of an untethered patient monitoring system. The system acquires three basic biomedical signals from the patient, plus a distress call button signal. The three basic signals are electrocardiogram (ECG), phonocardiogram (PCG) and temperature. The signals are transmitted by a RF carrier, received and read into a personal computer through a parallel port interface. Commercially available software can then be used for data display and analysis.
