Metasurfaces offer unparalleled control over electromagnetic waves, making them ideal candidates for enhancing performance of antenna systems. In this contribution, we review some of our recent advancements in metasurface-based coatings for dynamic antennas, discussing their design principles and performance characteristics. In particular, we will focus on the possible applications of metasurface coating for phased antenna arrays as well as on the insights on metasurface coatings that can be derived from the array theory.
