OaSys: FTR&D UMTS automatic cell planning tool

Abstract

An efficient automatic cell-planning (ACP) tool for UMTS mobile networks, OaSys, is presented in this paper. The ACP is orchestrated by a genetic algorithm (GA) that adjusts antenna parameters and common channel transmitted powers to optimize the network performance such as coverage, capacity and cost. An example of network optimization illustrates the effectiveness of OaSys ACP.
