The unknown resistivity of a bounded conductive body is retrieved starting from boundary measurements in stationary conditions. A new nonlinear inversion procedure following a critical analysis of the well-known Newton-Kantorovic method is proposed. The wavelets compression capabilities are used to reduce the number of parameters needed to describe the typical resistivity profiles encountered in industrial applications such as process tomography. Numerical results show the main features of the proposed approach.
