A new microwave radiometer is proposed to make it possible to compare a noise source independently of its reflection coefficient. It is a modification of a correlation radiometer with a 3-dB, quadrature (90 degrees ) hybrid coupler instead of a 180 degrees one as the input hybrid junction followed by a noise injection circuit for realizing temperature balance. Its principle, measurement procedure, and features are described. >
