Nineteen ninety four was a great year for Leonard Lavin. Alberto‐Culver, Inc., of which he is chairman and chief executive officer, set sales and earnings records and launched a successful professional haircare line, Motions. Perhaps more exciting to Lavin was watching his thoroughbred mare, One Dreamer, score a stunning victory in the Breeders Cup to win the Distaff championship, the first championship for Lavin's Glen Hill Farm.
