Details of Some Components Used for Subsidiary Services in Aircraft, Missiles and Space Vehicles. The Houchin Freight Transporter Type 449, manufactured by Houchin Ltd., Ashford, Kent, is a self‐propelled low‐loading vehicle designed to operate over normal road surfaces and on a special rail track. The freight carrying platform is fitted with a powered roller conveyor which drives pallets in a lateral direction. The direction of drive is reversible to facilitate loading and unloading from either side of the platform. Retractable steps along each side of the platform ensures that pallets are retained when the vehicle is in motion.
