The development of effective personnel management is one of the stated aims of the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), the UK's professional association of personnel practitioners with a membership approaching 23,500. To this end it aims to advise government and the numerous other national bodies who initiate, formulate, and operate the policies and programmes which affect people at work.
