DESPITE MUCH OF WHAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT OVERCOMING ineffective supervision, and a fairly constant flow of books devoted to the many aspects of a supervisor's job, the fact remains that levels of performance in this area of work are still poor. Not because supervisors are unaware of their shortcomings but because of the neglect of management to give supervisors that same training and opportunity to develop that has become almost standard for managers and staff executives.
