The existence of two octets of vector mesons, V, V, in the resonance theory of form factors and the unitary symmetry scheme of strong interactions is investigated. 1t is shown that the inclusion of V--V' mixing leads to good values for the coupling strengths of vector mesons to pairs of pseudoscalar mesons as well as to an explanation of the absence of the k pi modes for the proposed K*/sup 1/(990). The results for partial widths for vector-meson decay into two pseudoscalar mesons are tabulated. (L.B.S.)
