SU(4) unification of electroweak interactions

Abstract

Electroweak unification is obtained in an SU(4) model with SU/sub L/(2) x SU/sub R/(2) x U(1) as its subgroup and sin/sup 2/theta/sub W//sup 0/ = (1/4) in the symmetry limit. The unification mass scale is 3.3 x 10/sup 4/> or =m/sub X/> or =6.4 x 10/sup 3/ GeV for 240< or =m/sub R/< or =6.4 x 10/sup 3/ GeV. Some consequences of the model are discussed.
