On decrit comment l'excitation collective des electrons dans une petite particule metallique conduit a un renforcement (augmentation) considerable du champ dans la region de la surface; ce qui induit des transitions electroniques resultant eventuellement en la desorption des atomes. Les resultats de la dependance de la desorption (produite) avec la frequence et le rayon (dependance radiale) sont en bon accord avec des resultats experimentaux recuits concernant des particules de sodium, et rendent possible l'extraction d'informations concernant le nombre effectif de sites de desorption d'une petite particule
