The random speckle patterns produced by disordered systems are shown to be highly correlated along any two directions which are related by time-reversal symmetry. This striking new phenomenon arises from the inclusion of crossed diagrams in the treatment of fluctuation phenomena, and in reflection yields a double peak for the memory-effect correlation function. Analytical expressions for the time-reversed memory-effect correlation functions in both reflection and transmission are presented and are found to be in excellent agreement with the results of a numerical simulation.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 51 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
