The solution to the Boltzmann equation for optical-phonon scattering in one dimension, as obtained previously both without and with backscattering, is examined with regard to the question of electron velocity runaway. The results are in accord with previous work on this question, in that forward scattering (\ensuremath{\alpha}=0) leads to runaway above a threshold field, while isotropic scattering (\ensuremath{\alpha}=1) does not.
