In this paper the author generalizes and sharpens some inequalities concerning the norm of differences \(\| S(t)-T(t)\|\) of semigroups S(t), T(t) respectively, of operators on Banach spaces. Moreover estimates of the differences of the resolvents of the associated infinitesimal generators are included. Special applications to problems arising in the theory of double wells are included.
