Abstract Hydrodynamical wind-type jets emanated from the funnel formed by an accretion torus account well for the velocity field and temperature distribution of the SS 433 jets obtained by recent X-ray and optical observations. The jets attain their terminal velocity before exiting the funnel—the confinement region—and have constant velocity through the X-ray and optical-line emitting regions. Beyond the exit of the funnel the temperature of jets drops quickly due to adiabatic expansion. The sonic point is located deep inside the funnel at about 26 Schwarzschild radii from the central object. Hence, the jets are highly supersonic in the observed lineemitting regions.
