Ankyloglossia is a congenital anomaly in which the frenulum is attached to the tip of the tongue to varying degrees. Children affected by this condition may be unhindered or they may have a variety of problems to include dysfunctional breast-feeding and speech mechanics. This article describes the indications for and surgical technique of the transverse-vertical frenuloplasty for the treatment of ankyloglossia.
