Abstract The heart consists of four chambers: two atrias and two ventricles. The right ventricle is a low-pressure system which pumps the blood incoming from the body and into the lungs. The left ventricle is a high-pressure system that pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs and into the body. Each side of the heart has its own pressure gradients, muscle composition, blood supply, and anatomical differences. This chapter briefly discusses the anatomical composition of the heart with preference paid toward the ventricles, which are the drivers of output for each respective side of the heart.
