An overwintering larval population of Culicoides at Hudson, Colorado, in 1966 consisted of C. variipennis (Coquillett), C. n.sp. (near wisconsinensis Jones), and C. crepuscularis Malloch. By the beginning of June, this population had completed its emergence, and a continuous summer population of C. variipennis had begun. Sex ratios are given for the species.
