Observations on parasitism of the sugarcane stem borers Sesamia nonagriodes botanephaga Tams & Bowden, Eldana saccharina Walker, and Chilotrea sp. were made at the Bacita estate of the Nigerian Sugar Company, over a period of 4 years (1963-1966). The percentage parasitism among Sesamia spp. ranged from 12.2 to 16.8%, and the main parasite species found in the area was a tachinid, Descampsina sesamiae Mensil. Its population ranged from 73.0 to 84.0% of the parasite population. Other parasites were 4 species of Tachinidae (Diptera) and 7 hymenopterous species belonging to 3 families; Eulophidae, Ichneumonidae, and Braconidae.
