An unusually heavy flight of the codling moth ( Carpocapsa pomonella (Linn.)) has been recorded in a certain apple section of the Santa Clara Valley in California during the season of 1931. Records of the same were obtained by the use of bait traps. Lack of orchard sanitation definitely accounts for the conditions described.
